Re: The Absence Thread II

I pop by every once in a while but I'm not really active anymore. Guess I'll stop posting altogether once my post count reaches a round number. ;)

Re: Talk about the weather

We are breaking all kinds of records in terms of sun and heat up here. Currently touching 30°C during the daytime, and in the south of Norway we have just had the hottest May month in 100 years.

Re: Talk about the weather

Total snowmageddon here the last couple of days. Yesterday, the trip home (which normally takes 10 minutes) took 1 hour and 15 minutes due to queues and people getting stuck. This morning, I got up at 6 a.m. to clear more snow in my yard, but at 7:30 the snowblower stopped working so I had to give u...

Re: Buying a new laptop

I like those quick tips as general guidelines: SSD, a good CPU and GPU. As for RAM, check the speed as well as the amount of GB.

You should also invest in a BlueTooth mouse and keyboard, even if you don't always use them.

Re: Buying a new laptop

I'd avoid HP and Toshiba as they've had problems with heating and fan noise. Lenovo are quite good.

Re: Computer Upgrade Tips

Yeah, I think I've changed my mind. What I'll do instead is keep using my current equipment and when it gets old, I'll buy a complete upgrade kit with mobo and PCU. Then I'll just connect my HDDs to that.

Re: Computer Upgrade Tips

I did buy this PSU but I'm still a bit worried about not being able to use more than 2 HDDs. Thinking that the mobo (ASRock Z87 EXTREME3 - Haswell) could be the problem, maybe I should just buy a new one?

Re: Arkham Series

I stopped playing "Arkham City" after the first ten minutes. The gameplay and controls are the same, so it's simply a continuation of the previous game. Not real improvements seem to have been made.

Games uninstalled.

Arkham Series

I just finished the first game, "Arkham Asylum", and while it certainly has its moments (sneaking around, making surprise ambushes), I mostly found it repetitive and boring. Starting up "Arkham City" now and unless I'm immediately wowed, I won't play it to completion - nor will I...

Re: The Witcher series

Wrong order? :??

I started with W1, then W2, then W3. Liked the latter so much I played it twice. Then I recently replayed the whole series again, taking a different story path. Probably won't play W1-2 again, but W3 I probably will.

Re: PC problems thread

Well, right now the two ports on the right have the hard drives, and the CD-ROM drive is on one of the others.

- - HD
C - HD

It doesn't matter which port I connect the CD-drive to, but only the two ports on the right will run an HD.

Re: PC problems thread

Tried disabling DSA. No change.

Updating BIOS is a big step, isn't it? Here's what msinfo says, though:
BIOS version/Date - American Megatrends Inc. P2.50, 08.07.2014
SMBIOS version: 2.7

Re: PC problems thread

The ports are working; they could all rund the DVD optical drive. They just won't run more than 2 hard drives.

Sata controllers: Enabled
Sata mode selection: AHCI
Sata aggressive link power management: Disabled
Dynamic storage accelerator: Enabled
Hard disk s.m.a.r.t: Disabled.
