Yep, still working on this. I've added quite a few things in the past couple of months. In the following videos, I'm controlling the blue team and the red team is controlled by the computer AI. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UO2qukIEbEM This was my first attempt at adding some special abilities. You can't edit them within the campaign itself, but you can make a copy of them and change the file extension to the normal .mp2. I think expansion maps are .mpx. Then you can open them as usual in the map editor. You won't be able to play with the campaign bonuses, but some of them are pretty fun o...
I've been playing a lot of Magic: The Gathering lately (the old school mid-90's Shandalar adventure game) and it got me thinking about the magic system in the Heroes games. What if the magic system worked more like capital-M Magic? I threw some thoughts together under the umbrella of my battle proje...
My latest video is now online. Since the first video, I've added retaliation. Just like in the Heroes games, units may retaliate against a melee attack once per round. Somewhere along the line, I've inadvertantly tipped the balance of power toward the blue side. Adding retaliation made it worse. The...
Hey everyone, I wanted to share a project that I've been working on for a while now. I thought it would be interesting to create something where I could experiment with the battle mechanics from Heroes games. It's a chance to try new ideas and maybe combine things from several games at once. I've go...

I remember this game. It was pretty fun, although I have to say I liked the turn-based combat in the Heroes games better. It's nice to see old games like this still have a following.
Maybe it's because I have little kids, but I immediately pictured Kalah as Max in this video: http://www.nickjr.com/kids-videos/max-r ... patch.html

Awesome work. I just watched all the videos. I'm really impressed with all the effort you guys have put into this. Lots of people have had good ideas about modding H2, and now they'll have an opportunity to try them.
So I search the address in the hex editor? How do I find out where it's used in the code? Yeah, if your hex editor has a search feature you'll need to search for that number and replace it with the offset at the end of the file. One thing I forgot to mention is the architecture is little-endian, so...
Do you mean moving the address? How would you point to the offset? Let's say I would want an extra character to "Knight" at address 0014D9F6. I was proposing that you write "Knight2" at the very end of the file (don't forget the null byte at the end) and note that offset. You th...
I'm not certain this will work, but the first thing I would try to do is find the places in the exe where the string is referenced. The offset of a string has to be mentioned in the code somewhere. Then you can change that number to point to an offset at the end of the file and add your new string t...
We have a thread dedicated to modding Heroes 2. There's some good info in there. At one time, Darmani had a project that could add new creatures and/or factions to the game, but I haven't seen any mention of that here in quite a while.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say nobody . What we have now, especially among older fans, is a memory. Memories of our first experience with one of the NWC games. Saying to ourselves, "just one more turn," when it's already 2 am. No one can take those memories away from us, and more impor...

I've become increasingly convinced that the path to long-term success in this industry is through developing games, or game engines, but not both . With the plethora of OS/driver/hardware combinations out there, the user's PC has become a hostile environment. Exhibit A: the black screen issue, and t...
Targeting the end of the year seems a bit aggressive to me. It wasn't that long ago that Limbic came onboard to work on Heroes. How do they expect to put together content on the scale of MM6 or 7 (those being the two MM games I've played) in such a short timeframe?
