Star Citizen

"Kickstarter" is getting more and more interesting. Going against the ill instincts of bland gaming corporations.

If you liked GalCiv2 or Sol and you like (Sidenote, there will be GalCIV3. Stardock is officially working on it.) space ships designing, perhaps you may look on Star Citizen.

Till the end of this year, you may join them with your team and design kick-a55 space ship, to conquer all known and uknown universe.

Star Citizen will be a classic space simulation game.

This one has past $48 million in fan contributions, and it still has not released a full alpha yet. I wonder how many UBI might and magic releases have even brought in that amount. ;|

$48 million is quite impressive for a kickstarter, but it's not as impressive as $55K for the potato salad kickstarter.

The star citizen amount is a bit out of date. It has now exceeded $50 million and for the present at least has run out of stretch goals. It is probably close to a year before it is even released.

This game is being hyped to the high heavens... I dont get it.

Yea its PC only and it looks kind of good... but there are games out there like Elite: Dangerous (look it up) that do exactly the same thing, but on a huge server and without "instances" and no one talks about that.

I mean ED has a truly open world where everyone can meet everyone, no instances, but everyone is talking about a game that is not even done yet.

Not playing either btw just find it amusing.

The hype has a lot to do with the individual in charge, Chris Roberts of Wing Commander fame. It now has past $53 million if contributions and a new list of stretch goals.
